Norma Jean Engstrom

Norma Jean Engstrom, 75, of Uhrichsville, O., passed away on Tuesday, September 29, 2009 at Union Hospital in Dover, O., following a lengthy illness.

Born December 24, 1933 in Dennison, O., she was a daughter of the late Charles Leslie and Myrtle (Davis) Millhorn.

A lifelong resident of the area, Norma was a graduate of Dennison High School in the class of 1951 who had worked for several local nursing homes as a nurses’ aide, in addition to being a loving wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker. She was a member of the Uhrichsville Moose Ladies’ Auxiliary and enjoyed bowling in their league as long as her health permitted. Norma liked to relax by watching television and, in her younger days, had enjoyed going camping. Throughout her life, she loved to spend time with her family and friends.

On September 24, 1955, Norma married William Floyd Engstrom who preceded her in death in 1993. She was also preceded in death by a son, Randy Engstrom; her brother, Bob Millhorn; and her sister, Ruth Martin.

Her surviving family includes a daughter, Diane S. Engstrom and her companion, Troy Stutler, of the home; two sons, Terry L. Engstrom and his companion, Patty Smith, of Uhrichsville, and Donald L. Engstrom and his wife, Pam, of Cambridge; two stepsons, W. Gary Engstrom and Larry D. Engstrom; nine grandchildren; six great grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Donna Millhorn of Kinston, N.C.; and several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to call at the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 1. A funeral service, officiated by Rev. Leonard Porter, will be held Friday at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Interment will be beside her beloved husband in Uhrichsville’s Union Cemetery.
