Norma Jean Cerana

Norma Jean Cerana, 89, of Uhrichsville, passed away on Thursday, May 17, 2018, at Hennis Care Centre in Dover. Born January 31, 1929 in New Philadelphia, she was a daughter of the late William and Thelma Lucille (Bonifant) Charnock.

On October 5, 1946, Norma married Pio “Pete” Cerana, Jr. with whom she enjoyed nearly 38 years of marriage until his passing on July 15, 1984. They are survived by two daughters, Donna L. (Gene) Shepherd and Karen S. Cerana; 7 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren, with one more expected. Norma is also survived by two sisters, Marjorie Lee and Debra (Mike) Thomas, and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by an infant son, Pio Steve Cerana; son, David A. Cerana; daughter, Shirley J. Biechler; sisters, Dorothy McCoy and Patricia Lahmers; and brothers, Robert, James, Charles and William Charnock.

Norma was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker who had also worked as a dietary aide at Twin City Hospital in Dennison, where she later volunteered as a Grey Lady and in the Coffee Bar. She was a member of Uhrichsville First United Methodist Church.

Pastor Shaun Green will officiate a 1:00 p.m. service on Monday, May 21, at the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison. Interment will follow beside her beloved husband in Uhrichsville’s Union Cemetery. Visitation will be 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
