Nita Therise Dyson, 89, of Dennison, O., passed away on Monday, January 5, 2009 in her home, following a lengthy illness.

Born November 5, 1919 in Uhrichsville, O., she was a daughter of the late William Hanna and Frieda C. (Norris) Hanna Ball.

A lifelong resident of the area, Nita was a graduate of New Philadelphia High School in the class of 1937 and of the Aultman Hospital School of Nursing in the class of 1940. Nita was a registered nurse at Twin City Hospital for many years until her retirement.

Nita was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker who enjoyed caring for her home and family. She also spent many happy hours with her friends in the several card clubs to which she belonged and at the Uhrichsville Elks where she had been a member of the ladies’ auxiliary. Nita was a talented painter who loved to share her artwork with family and friends. She was a member of Park Christian Church in Dennison.

On February 3, 1941, she married Richard M. Dyson with whom she enjoyed over fifty years of marriage until his passing on April 12, 1992. They are survived by a daughter, Mrs. Paul (Kathleen) Gabel of Haines City, Fla., eight grandchildren, twenty-two great grandchildren and several great great grandchildren.

Nita is also survived by her sister, Lois Jayne Baker of Uhrichsville; brother, Byron Ball and his wife, Florence, of Dover; sister-in-law, Marye Grant of Dennison; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Nita was preceded in death by a daughter, Patty J. Villwock; a son, Robert L. Dyson; a grandson, Steven S. Gabel; and her stepfather, David Ball.

Services for Nita, officiated by Pastor Scot Caley, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 8, in the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home at Dennison. Interment will be with her beloved husband in Union Cemetery in Uhrichsville.

Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Those wishing to honor Nita’s memory by a charitable contribution are encouraged to do so to Hospice of Tuscarawas County, 201 West Third Street, Dover, OH 44622.
