Nancy Elaine Scott

February 21, 1943 — June 15, 2026

Bowerston, Ohio

Nancy Elaine Scott, 83 of Bowerston, Ohio, passed away peacefully after a lengthy battle with cancer at Ohio’s Hospice Truman House in New Philadelphia, Ohio on Monday, June 15, 2026, with her beloved son at her side. Born on February 21, 1943 in Perrysville, Ohio, she was the last surviving child of the late Samuel W. and Anna Olivia (Stull) Arnold.

Nancy was a 1961 graduate of Scio High School who later earned her associates degree. She was employed for 24 years by the former Scio Pottery, then worked for the Harrison County Department of Job and Family Services in Cadiz for the next 24 years until her retirement. Nancy loved gardening and doing yardwork, but her greatest happiness came from spending time catching up with her family and many friends. She also enjoyed attending Grace Methodist Church in Uhrichsville.

On November 30, 1963, Nancy married John Lewis Scott, with whom she spent over fifty years of loving marriage until his passing on July 29, 2014. They are survived by their son, Jon D. Scott, of Bowerston, and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, Nancy was preceded in death by her sisters, Eva Louise Renicker, Anna Lucille Dickey, Vina May Smith, and Olive Thompson; brothers, Robert Edward Arnold and James Junior Arnold; half-sisters, Sara Ellen Davis, Gladys Irene Brodzinski, and Dorothy Virginia Vint; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In keeping with Nancy’s wishes, she will be cremated before interment beside her late husband in Conotton Cemetery. Vic Stull, in close consultation with Pastor Larry Malterer, will officiate a graveside service at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 18. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations may be made to Ohio’s Hospice Foundation, 716 Commercial Ave. S.W., New Philadelphia, OH 44663.
