N. Catherine Peoples

N. Catherine Peoples, 83, of Uhrichsville, O., passed away on Thursday, May 6, 2010 at Aultman Hospital in Canton, O., following a lengthy illness.

Born April 23, 1927 in New Philadelphia, O., she was a daughter of the late David William and Laura Scott (Sexton) King.

Catherine was a lifelong resident of the area and a longtime member of Grace United Methodist Church where she was active in the United Methodist Women, as well as teaching Bible School. She was also active in her community as a member of the Twin City Hospital Auxiliary-Twig 3 and as a Cub Scout leader for many years. Catherine loved researching her family’s genealogy, reading, sewing, doing crafts, bowling, travel and caring for her beloved pets.

On March 31, 1954, she married A. Eugene Peoples with whom she recently celebrated fifty-six years of marriage. Catherine is also survived by a son, David E. Peoples and his wife, Sally, of Deersville; two grandchildren, Deborah “Debbie” Floyd and her husband, Tim, of Marysville, O. and James “Jamie” Peoples of North Canton; a great grandson, Joshua Cercone; a great granddaughter, Josephina "Josie" Peoples; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, William “Bud” and David King; a sister, Mary (King) Grace; and an infant son, Richard L. Peoples.

Catherine was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker, and had worked for Twin City Hospital as a nursing assistant for a number of years. She had also worked for the Timken Co. in their inspection department for a time.

Services for Catherine, officiated by Rev. Larry Malterer, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 11, in the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home at Dennison. Interment will follow in Uhrichsville’s Union Cemetery.

Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday. Those wishing to honor Catherine’s memory by a charitable contribution are encouraged to do so to Grace United Methodist Church and the Twin City Hospital Auxiliary.
