Myrna Holderbaum

April 28, 1939 — December 12, 2018

Myrna Lea Holderbaum, 79, of Dennison, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, December 12, from the Community Hospice Truman House in New Philadelphia after a lengthy illness. Born April 28, 1939 in Dover, she was a daughter of the late John E. and Mildred J. (Briggs) Lake.

On July 13, 1974, Myrna married Gary L. Holderbaum with whom she enjoyed over 34 years of marriage until his passing on October 26, 2008. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, John E. Lake, Jr., and five sons.

Myrna was a lifelong area resident who, in addition to being a loving wife, mother and homemaker, had worked for Barbour Publishing in Uhrichsville until her retirement in 2008. She will be remembered for her wonderful cooking and baking, as well as her lovely flower gardens. Most of all, she treasured the time that she spent with her family, especially her grandchildren. As Christmas approached, she delighted in the decorations her family put up extra early this year and in watching Hallmark Christmas movies.

Her surviving family includes her daughter, Shannon (Bill) Karcher of Atwood Lake with whom she had recently resided; a son, Gary (Christina) Holderbaum, Jr. of Dennison; two stepdaughters, Michelle (Patrick) Carpenter of Beach City and Denise (Scott) Baer of Baraboo, Wisconsin; a daughter-in-law, Vickie Materna of New Philadelphia; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, including Tanner, Tynne, Hayley and Madison with whom she was very close; a sister, Darleen (Sonny) Imer of Port Washington; and several nieces and nephews.

Myrna’s family will celebrate her life on Friday, December 14, at 1:00 p.m. in the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison. Interment will follow beside her beloved husband in Dundee Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home from noon to 1:00 p.m. on Friday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice, 716 Commercial Ave. S.W., New Philadelphia, OH  44663.
