Myra Ida Meek, 98, of Uhrichsville, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, March 14, 2012, at Beacon Pointe Rehabilitation Center in Uhrichsville, after a period of declining health. Born March 30, 1913 in Annapolis, Ohio, she was a daughter of the late Harry W. and Hazel L. (Mizer) Davis.
A resident of Uhrichsville since she was very young, Myra was a graduate of Uhrichsville High School in the class of 1931 and was a member of Uhrichsville 1st United Methodist Church for seventy-eight years. In addition to being a loving wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker, she was the accountant and office manager for Gibbs Chevrolet-Buick for thirty-five years, having received certificates of excellence in accounting from General Motors.
On June 19, 1937, she married C. Glenn Meek with whom she enjoyed nearly forty-two years of marriage until his passing on January 18, 1979. They are survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Glenda and Dan Morris of Uhrichsville with whom she had resided; a granddaughter, Danna Morris of Uhrichsville; a grandson, Dan G. Morris and his wife, Kimberly, of Bolivar; and great-grandchildren, Cody Morris of Capital University in Columbus, Ohio and Cole and Cori Morris of Bolivar, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. The last of her family’s generation, she was preceded in death by a sister, Urza Ogden; brothers, Keith and Edwin Davis; and her stepmother, Alice (Prager) Davis.
A private, family funeral service, officiated by Rev. John W. Clark, will be held at the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison. Interment will follow beside her beloved husband in Uhrichsville’s Union Cemetery. Those wishing to honor Myra’s memory by a charitable contribution are encouraged to do so to Uhrichsville 1st United Methodist Church, in lieu of flowers.
