Murrell Jay “Snap” Campbell, 68, of Tuscarawas, passed away at his home on Friday, June 7, 2019. Born February 17, 1951 in Socorro, New Mexico, he was a son of the late Edward and Phyllis (Kyte) Campbell. A Tuscarawas County resident for most of his life, he was a proud graduate of Indian Valley South High School. Snap was a member of the National Rifle Association.
On March 22, 1985, Snap married the former Patricia Kay Byrd with whom he enjoyed nearly 30 years of marriage until her passing on August 23, 2014. He was also preceded in death by his sister and brother-in-law, Kathy and John Jones, and aunt, Donna Schumacher. Snap’s surviving family includes his stepchildren, Shelly (Chris) Corte-Real and Patrick O’Donahue; grandchildren, Hope, Ian, Rylee, Bridgett, Quincee, Peyton and Zac; great-granddaughter, Macie; sister, Christy Rauzi; brother, Edward (Diane) Campbell; and many nieces and nephews. He loved his grandchildren very much and treasured the time that they spent together.
In keeping with Snap’s wishes, cremation is planned without a public visitation. His family plans a private graveside service at Union Cemetery in Uhrichsville where he will be interred beside his beloved wife.
