Michael Troy Thomas Swaney

Michael Troy Thomas Swaney, 47, of New Philadelphia, passed away at his home while surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, May 12, 2020, following a short battle with cancer. Born January 18, 1973 in Dover, he was the son of Marjorie Jo (Leffler) Swaney who had resided with him and the late Melvin Thomas Swaney who preceded him in death six months ago.

Mike spent much of his youth living in Florida before returning to Ohio in his senior year of high school. He was the owner and operator of J & S Mowing for many years. A member of the New Philadelphia AmVets, Mike’s passion was racing at Midvale Speedway with his son and stepsons.

Mike will be deeply missed by his surviving family which includes his fiancée, Andrea Watson; son, Braden (Bre) Swaney; stepsons, Larry Ennis, Wesley Ennis, and Blaze Bacon; grandchildren, Greysen, Kayden, Izaeah, and Celia; sister, Mandy Sokol; nieces, Olivia and Gigi Sokol; and a number of aunts, uncles, and cousins. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a dear cousin, Nick Swaney.

In keeping with Mike’s wishes, cremation is planned without a public visitation or service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice, 716 Commercial Ave. S.W., New Philadelphia, OH  44663.
