Michael Lynn Schwendiman, 75, of Strasburg, passed away on Tuesday, August 18, 2020, at Bowerston Hills Skilled Care in Carroll County. Born July 18, 1945 in Dennison, he was a son of the late Howard Albert and Evelyn June (Stull) Schwendiman. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Hayward and Leona Stull, who raised him after his mother died when he was an infant; son, John Schwendiman; brother, John A. Schwendiman; and stepmother, Clara Schwendiman.
A 1966 graduate of Tuscarawas High School, Mike had lived in the Gnadenhutten and Tuscarawas area for much of his life before residing in Strasburg for the past 18 years. He was a longtime member of Sharon Moravian Church in Tuscarawas. Mike was a past president of the Gnadenhutten Senior Center who also enjoyed attending the Tuscarawas Senior Center, and had most recently frequented the Tuscarawas Senior Center in Dover where he enjoyed playing pool and spending time with his buddies. He was an avid fan of the Cleveland Indians and Browns, and he enjoyed designing and making cards to send to his family and friends.
Mike will be deeply missed by his surviving family which includes his daughter, Carole Noelle Ries; son, James Schwendiman; grandchildren, Noah, Tyler, Sophia, Cambria, Ryker, and Emery; sister, Patsy Carlisle; half-brother, Rod Schwendiman; stepsister, Diane Hobart; sister-in-law, Charlotte Wright; and many nieces and nephews.
In keeping with Mike’s wishes, cremation is planned without a public visitation. A private, family graveside service will be held in Bowerston’s Longview Cemetery where he will be interred beside his son. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice.
