Michael Alan Rickey, Sr.

Michael Alan Rickey, Sr., 68, of Port Washington, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, January 7, 2020, at the Community Hospice Truman House in New Philadelphia, after a lengthy illness. Born June 22, 1951 in Akron, Ohio, he was a son of the late Joseph L. and Virginia E. (Newman) Rickey.

On April 21, 1978, Mike married the former Wendy Jo Hilliker with whom he enjoyed 27 years of marriage until her passing on July 26, 2005. They are survived by a son, Michael Alan Rickey, II; a very loving daughter, Tina Jo (Rickey) Rolli; and six grandchildren, Damian Rickey, Shalcey Rickey, Jayden Rolli, Gretchin Rolli, Mariah Rolli and Noah Rolli. Mike is also survived by his siblings, Joseph (Sandy) Rickey, Carol Fichter, and Timothy (Jane) Rickey; sister-in-law, Gladys Rickey; and many nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Bobbie Joe. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Larry, Robert, Richard, and James Rickey; and brother-in-law, John Fichter.

Mike was a 1970 graduate of Hudson High School and a retiree of Novco. He was a member of the Uhrichsville Eagles and Newcomerstown Moose who loved fishing and hunting. Most of all, he loved being a Grampy and treasured the times that he got to watch his grandkids play sports.

A private, family service is planned. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to his family in care of the R. K. Lindsey Funeral Home, Inc., 26 Grant St., Dennison, OH  44621-1269, to help defray the cost of his final expenses.
