Matthew G. Donohoe

Matthew G. Donohoe, 73, of New Philadelphia, formerly of Uhrichsville, passed away surrounded by his family on Sunday, July 1, 2012, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born March 24, 1939, in Uhrichsville, a son of the late Thomas Patrick and Blanche Elizabeth (Whitaker) Donohoe. A graduate of St. Mary’s High School in 1957, Matt spent two years serving in the U.S. Army. After returning home from duty in Germany and France, he met the love of his life, Vivian (Hill) Donohoe, and they married June 16, 1962. He retired from the Timken Company after 31 years. He then spent seven years employed at Immaculate Conception School. Matt was a member of the Dennison Knights of Columbus and Uhrichsville Elks. He was also a life-time parishioner of Immaculate Conception Church.
He is survived by his wife of fifty years, Vivian (Hill) Donohoe; daughters, Beth (William) Schumacher and Stacy Donohoe; son, Matthew P. (Shari) Donohoe; four grandchildren, William and Katherine Schumacher, Jack Witte and Ella Donohoe; siblings, Thomas Donohoe, Charles Donohoe, Margie Zanon, Paul Donohoe and Robert Donohoe. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings, Frances Gross and James Donohoe; and daughter, Margaret Ellen Donohoe.
Friends may call Wednesday, July 4, from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home, 26 Grant St., Dennison. A Chrisitan Wake service will be held at 5:45 p.m. during calling hours on Wednesday. A service, officiated by Father Anthony Lonzo and Father Martin Ralko, will be held Thursday, July 5, at 10:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church in Dennison. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery near Dennison.
