Marylou Mock

Marylou Mock, 73, of Uhrichsville, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Saturday May 22, 2010 at her home in Uhrichsville. Born August 7, 1936 at Akron, OH, she was a daughter of the late Sgt. Grant August Runge and Helen (Foster) Runge.

Marylou was a 1954 graduate of Marlboro High School in Hartville. In addition to being a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker, Marylou had managed several McDonald’s restaurants over a twenty-year period. Marylou was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Uhrichsville and the Marlboro High School Alumni. Marylou was an avid gardener and birdwatcher. She was most happy when she was surrounded by her beloved flowers, animals, friends, and family. She knew no strangers, only people she had not met yet

Her surviving family includes a daughter, Joyce and husband Jerry Patterson of Uhrichsville with whom she resided; two sons, Rodney and wife Jessica Mock of Canton and Randy Turner of Canton; stepchildren, Robert and wife Shirley Mock, Jr. of Akron, Wendi and husband Harold Barker of Cuyahoga Falls, and Jeff Mock of TX; a sister, Dorothy Haney of Akron; twenty grandchildren; twenty eight great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and countless children and adults that she adopted into her heart as her own.

In addition to her husband, Robert Clayton Mock, Sr., and her parents, Marylou was preceded in death by a son, Edward Turner, and an infant sister, Grace Runge.

Marylou will be interred at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman, OH next to her husband. A memorial service celebrating her life, officiated by Rev. Larry Malterer, will be held Friday, May 28, 2010 at 5:00 pm in Grace United Methodist Church at Uhrichsville.

Those wishing to honor Marylou’s memory are encouraged to bring a potted flower to her memorial service. Following the celebration of Marylou’s life, the flowers will be planted in a garden at the church.
