Maryann Scott

Maryann Scott, 49, a resident of Tuscarawas County for most of her life, most recently of Dennison, died Saturday, May 5, 2012 at Union Hospital in Dover after an illness of many years. Born October 6, 1962 in Dover, she was a daughter of the late Maynard Lee and Shirley Ann (Brinkley) Scott. She was a graduate of Strasburg High School in the class of 1981 who enjoyed reading and doing arts and crafts. Maryann was an avid Ohio State fan and loved to cheer on the Buckeyes.

Maryann is survived by her maternal grandmother, Mary Brinkley of Strasburg; aunts and uncles, Connie and Ken Myers, Janet Huston, and Ronnie and Patti Brinkley, all of Strasburg; her best friend, Roxanne Garrott of Canton; and many dear cousins, friends and neighbors. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant brother, Allen Maynard Scott, and her maternal grandfather, Allen Joshua Brinkley.

In keeping with Maryann’s wishes, she has been cremated without a public visitation. A graveside service, officiated by Pastor Jeff Mathews and her cousins, Kenny Myers and Mary Border, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 12, in Strasburg’s Grandview Union Cemetery. A gathering for family and friends in celebration of her life will immediately follow at Winfield United Methodist Church.
