Mary Agnes Winrod, 76, of New Philadelphia, passed away on Monday, August 4, 2014, at New Dawn Retirement Community in Dover. Born September 18, 1937 in New Philadelphia, she was a daughter of the late Henry William and Agnes (Franze) Snyder.
On March 27, 1954, Mary was wed to Richard Lee Winrod with whom she celebrated 60 years of loving marriage this spring. She is also survived by her sons: Richard (Debbie) Winrod, Jr. of Columbus, Paul (Brenda) Winrod of South Carolina, and Robert (Janet) Winrod of Columbus; daughter, Sharon Winrod of the home; grandchildren: Lynn, Gina, Amy, Michael, and Kimberlie; great-grandchildren: Dylan, Caiden, IV, Olivia, Kholton, and Kristian; sister, Pat Mears of Dover; brother, William Snyder of New Philadelphia; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Edward Dean Winrod; granddaughter, Jennifer Winrod; sister, Rose Latham; and brothers, Paul and Edward Snyder.
Mary was a lifelong resident of the area who attended Sacred Heart Schools in New Philadelphia. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who loved caring for her family and had also worked at the Holiday Inn and Basetti’s Restaurant. In her younger years, she loved to go fishing with her husband.
In keeping with Mary’s wishes, she has been cremated without a public visitation. A private family service is planned. She will be interred in Uhrichsville’s Union Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice.
