Mary Elizabeth Voshall-Parker, 81, of Uhrichsville, O., passed away on Monday, July 6, 2009 at Schoenbrunn Healthcare in New Philadelphia, O., following a long and bravely fought battle with cancer.
Born August 24, 1927 in Uhrichsville, she was a daughter of the late Leo and Alice E. (Reeder) Lineberger.
Mary was a lifelong resident of the Twin City area and a graduate of Uhrichsville High School in the class of 1945. She was a longtime member of Uhrichsville First United Methodist Church and a former member of the 1934 Sewing Club and the Midvale V.F.W. Ladies’ Auxiliary. She also belonged to the Twin City Chapter of AARP.
In 1949, she married Paul E. Voshall with whom she had three children, Mrs. Don E. (Cynthia A. "Cindi") Wagstaff of New Philadelphia, David L. Voshall of Uhrichsville, and Roger A. Voshall and his wife, Karen, of Parma, O., before his passing on December 23, 1955. Paul and Mary are also survived by two granddaughters, Rachel and Sara, and three great grandchildren, David, Haily and Robbie.
On September 25, 1994, Mary was preceded in death by her second husband, Carl O. Parker to whom she had been married on November 18, 1978. Several step children and step grand children survive her.
Mary’s other surviving family includes a brother, Robert “Bob” Lineberger of New Philadelphia; a sister, Mrs. Blaine R. (Norma Jean) Gilmore of Uhrichsville; a sister-in-law, Nancy Contini of Dover; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins, including a special niece, Vicki L. Gilmore of Uhrichsville.
In addition to her parents and husbands, Mary was preceded in death by her sister-in-law, Bernice Lineberger.
Mary was truly devoted to her family and was a loving wife, mother and homemaker. She had worked for the Telephone Co. for a number of years in the 50’s, as well as the Uhrichsville Youth Center. In later years, she was a home healthcare provider for a number of area individuals.
Mary will be sadly missed by all of her friends and family which includes her beloved feline companions, Coco and Cheyenne. Two of her dear kitties who have passed on, Oreo and Buddy, completed her family.
Services for Mary, officiated by Rev. John W. Clark, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 9, at the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison. Interment will follow in Uhrichsville’s Union Cemetery.
Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Those wishing to honor Mary’s memory by a charitable contribution are encouraged to do so to Uhrichsville First United Methodist Church or Hospice of Tuscarawas County, in lieu of flowers.
