Mary Louise Varner, 70, of Uhrichsville, Ohio, formerly of Dennison, died Monday, May 2, 2011 at Union Hospital in Dover, Ohio after a period of declining health. Born November 16, 1940 in Washington, D.C., she was a daughter of the late James Theodore Tidrick, Sr. and Jeanne Claire (Grinnell) Tidrick.
On June 23, 1967, Mary was wed to Lawrence R. “Rusty” Varner with whom she enjoyed nearly forty-one years of marriage until his passing on December 10, 2008. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Patricia Emig; a brother-in-law, Charles Polen; and a nephew, Kenneth Watkins. Her surviving family includes a sister, Rebecca Polen of Dover; three brothers, Robert Nathan (Nancy) Tidrick of Tempe, AZ, James T. Tidrick, Jr. of Columbus, and Nathan McKee Tidrick of Newcomerstown; an aunt, Ethel Schichtel of Michigan; two daughters, Jenny and Margaret Varner of Cleveland; numerous nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Barb Camp of Uhrichsville; and her best friend, Helen Dickinson of Uhrichsville.
A resident of the Twin City area for over thirty years, Mary was a loving wife and homemaker. She enjoyed singing, especially barbershop style music, and was a former member of the Valley Voices.
In keeping with her wishes, Mary has been cremated without a public visitation or service. A memorial service is planned for a later date. Those wishing to honor her memory by a charitable contribution are encouraged to do so to the charity of their choice.
