Mary Kathryn Simon

Mary Kathryn Simon, 99, of Dennison, formerly of Dellroy, passed away on Thursday, March 23, 2023, at Golden Age Retreat in Carrollton, after a period of declining health. Born March 1, 1924 in Dennison, she was a daughter of the late Frank McGuire, Sr. and Emmy (Robinson) McGuire.

Mary Kay grew up in Dennison and was a longtime member of the former Grant Street United Methodist Church. After her 1943 graduation from Dennison High School, Mary Kay moved to Troy, Ohio where she resided until the 1970s. In Troy, she had a long career as the secretary for Hobart Brothers. After returning to our area, she married Emil Stephen Simon, and they made their home in Dellroy for many years. He preceded her in death on February 7, 1990. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Dora Simon, and brothers, Frank McGuire, Jr. and Charles McGuire. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Norma Jean McGuire; nephew, James “Jim” McGuire; great-nieces and great-nephew, Lee Ann, Shane, Angela “Angie”, and Sonia; and a number of great-great-nieces and -nephews.

Pastor Ken Ogg will officiate an 11:00 a.m. graveside service on Monday, 3/27, in St. Mary’s Cemetery near Dennison where she will be interred with her late husband. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army.
