Mary Etta Pettit, 96, of Uhrichsville, went to Heaven on December 20, 2023. Born December 11, 1927 in Elton, West Virginia, she was a daughter of the late Jesse and Opal (Gwinn) Cox. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Alice McConnell, and brothers, Carl, David, Clifford, Bob, Alva, Homer, Ernest, and Emery Cox.
Mary attended Criton High School in West Viriginia and had worked for Morning View Care Center as a Certified Nursing Assistant for 30 years. Her greatest joy came from taking care of those who couldn’t take care of themselves, which she did for the majority of her life. She was a member of Bethel Worship Center in Uhrichsville.
Her surviving family includes her daughters, Linda (Bud) Deardorff and Pat (companion, Lee Voelker) Fredrickson; grandchildren, Lisa Dillon, Todd Ashbaugh, Doug Kniceley, and Sarah (Euclid) Wood; great grandchildren, Evan and Austin Dillon, Zoey and Charles Campbell, and Warren Wood; and siblings, Marie (Nelson) Phillippi and Dallas (Mavis) Cox.
Services, officiated by Pastor John Stevenson, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 28, 2023 at R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison. Visitation will be held 2 hours prior, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow in Dover’s Ridgecrest Memory Gardens.
