Mary Ellen Mccullough

Mary Ellen McCullough, 88, of Tuscarawas, formerly of Bowerston, passed away at her daughter’s home on Sunday, April 30, 2017. Born February 15, 1929 in Mercer, Pennsylvania, she was a daughter of the late Frederick Milton and Elizabeth Ardell (King) Coryea.

On August 16, 1947, Mary Ellen married George Lee McCullough with whom she enjoyed nearly 67 years of marriage until his passing on April 2, 2014. They are survived by daughters, Sharyn Vallery and Susan (Rich) Kohler; Tom (Patricia) Hall who was like a son to them; grandchildren, Michelle Standiford, Duane (Norma) Wilson, Renee (Carlos) Rodriguez, Spencer (Sarah) Wilson, Sarah (Tom) Brocious, Nicole Yosick, Noel (Darren) Carter, Andy Yosick, Gabrielle Muraski, Alexander (Deanna) Muraski, and Jack Vallery; and many great-grandchildren. Mary Ellen is also survived by her sister, Shirley (Kenny) Sterner, and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Jeanne Leatherman; brothers, Jimmy, Bob and Jack Coryea; and sisters, Dorothy Schaffer and Donna Wilmouth.

Mary Ellen was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother who was an avid gardener and longtime member of the Garden Club. She was a longtime member of the former Conotton United Methodist Church where she had been active in many facets of the congregation, including the United Methodist Women.

Services will be held at 1pm on Thursday, May 4, in the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison with visitation for two hours prior to the service. Interment will follow beside her beloved husband in Conotton Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice.
