Mary L. Coventry, 87, of Uhrichsville, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 12, 2015, at Community Hospice House in New Philadelphia. Born February 23, 1928 in Uhrichsville, she was the daughter of the late Arthur “A.B.” and Alice (Shull) Skaer.
Mary was a resident of Uhrichsville throughout her life, was a 1945 graduate of Uhrichsville H.S., and a longtime member of Uhrichsville First United Methodist Church where she was very active in her congregation and had served as secretary for 45 years. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker who had also worked as a teacher’s aide at Trenton Ave. Elementary for many years, as well as at Bank One (the former United Bank) in Uhrichsville and H.L. Green’s in Uhrichsville. She loved to square dance and was a member of the Star Promenaders, enjoyed playing Mahjong and card club, and was a member of the Review Club.
On February 26, 1948, Mary married James E. Coventry who survives her. She is also survived by their children, Debra (George) Krahel, Mark (Monica) Coventry, Keren (Dennis) Ames, Jay (April) Coventry, and Robb (Jody) Coventry; grandchildren, Chevelle, Cameron, Brian, Derek, Nathan, Kady, Nicholas, Kasi, Karli, Hannah, Dillon, and Nicole; 13 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
The Rev. John W. Clark will officiate her funeral service at 10:30am on Saturday, May 16, in Uhrichsville First United Methodist Church. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery in New Philadelphia. Visitation will be 5-8pm on Friday in the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison. Memorial contributions may be made to Uhrichsville First United Methodist Church and Community Hospice.
