Mary Ann Hicks

Mary Ann Hicks, 73, of Uhrichsville, passed away on Thursday, January 5, 2017, at Trinity Hospital Twin City in Dennison. Born October 5, 1943 near Cadiz, she was a daughter of the late William Lawrence “Hap” and Mary Lucille (McLandsborough) Wright.

On August 11, 1961, Mary married Franklin D. Hicks with whom she celebrated 55 years of loving marriage this past summer. She is also survived by a daughter, Amy (Bruce) Hillyer; sons, Scott (Sheri) Hicks and Jason (Karolyn) Hicks; grandchildren, Broc (Jamie) Hillyer, Hillary (Chris) Campbell, Miranda (Allex) Armstrong; and Ty, Hannah, Isabella, Analia and Jaxson Hicks; great-grandchildren, Cadence, Connor, Camden, Carter and Emmalyn; brothers, Gary (Patty) Wright and Donald (Helen) Wright; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Bobby Wright, and sister, Ruth McPeek.

Mary was a lifelong resident of the area, a 1961 graduate of Dennison High School, and a longtime member of Park Christian Church in Dennison. For 35 years, she was a cook for the Claymont Junior High School, as well as being a loving wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker.

Her family will receive friends for a celebration of Mary’s life from noon to 2pm on Monday, January 9, in the Fellowship Hall of Park Christian Church. In keeping with her wishes, a private, family graveside service will have been held in Uhrichsville’s Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Trinity Hospital Twin City Foundation and Crossroads Hospice.
