Mary Diane Perry, 59, of New Philadelphia, O., passed away on Sunday, October 18, 2009 at Union Hospital in Dover, O., following a sudden illness.
Born July 28, 1950 near Uhrichsville, O., she was a daughter of the late Charles Richard and Bessie Mae (Smith) Hollis.
Diane was a lifelong resident of the area who had worked at the Scio Pottery for a number of years. She enjoyed the time that she worked there and kept track of her co-workers over the years. She was also a loving wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker, and had been a member of First Christian Church in Dover. Diane was a former member of the Uhrichsville Moose Ladies’ Auxiliary, the Ratchet Jaw CB Club and the Friendly CBers, as well.
On November 3, 1985, Diane married Emmanuel L. “Mike” Perry with whom she would have celebrated her twenty-fourth wedding anniversary next month. She is also survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Charlie and Melissa (Cable) Carpenter and their daughter, Cierra, of Reynoldsburg, O.; a son and daughter-in-law, Rusty and Jessie Carpenter and their children, Maddie and Aiden of Uhrichsville; a granddaughter, Briana of Uhrichsville; a sister, Betty Bartimus of Uhrichsville; a brother, Ralph Hollis of Dennison; two nieces, Nikki and Felicia; and two great nieces, Kailee and Josalin. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Zelma Ray.
A memorial service for Diane, officiated by her cousin, Jeff McDonald, will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, October 23, in First Christian Church at 3025 N. Wooster Ave., Dover, with her family receiving callers at the church for an hour prior to the service. Interment will be with her parents in West Union Cemetery at Gilmore.
