Marjorie L. Baker, 88, of Dennison, passed away on Wednesday, September 9, 2015 at Beacon Pointe Rehabilitation Center in Uhrichsville after a period of declining health. Born April 9, 1927 in Newport (near Uhrichsville), she was a daughter of the late Roy and Alberta (VanFossen) Watson.
On December 26, 1952, Marjorie married Charles William Baker with whom she enjoyed over 61 years of marriage until his passing on March 27, 2014. They are survived by three children, Cheryl (Robert) Jeffers, Chuck (Kim) Baker and Caralee (Rod) Cooper; 11 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. Marjorie is also survived by her sister, Joyce Greco, sisters-in-law, Betty Stanley and Jayne Baker; brother-in-law, Rick (Maryanne) Baker; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Roy and Ronald Watson, and a great-grandson, Kaden Barker.
Marjorie was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, who devoted her life to raising her children. Marjorie was a resident of the Twin City area for most of her life with the exception of several years in New Philadelphia. She was a 1945 graduate of Uhrichsville High School and a longtime member of Grace United Methodist Church in Uhrichsville. In her younger years, Marjorie had been a volunteer at the Dennison Depot Canteen during war times and also worked as a phone operator with Ohio Bell
Services, officiated by Rev. Larry Malterer, will be held at 1:00 pm on Monday, September 14, in the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison. Interment will follow beside her beloved husband in Freeport’s Greenmont Union Cemetery. Visitation will be 5:00 to 8:00 pm on Sunday, September 13 in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Grace United Methodist Church Building Fund.
