Marilyn Bateman Scott, born in N.Y.C. in 1932, of Dover, O., formerly of Columbus, O., went to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 29, 2009 from her home in Dover.
Marilyn was a retired school teacher of thirty years, having taught in Wheeling, W. Va., Norfolk, Va., Sidney, O., Springfield, O., and Columbus, O.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Ruth; her father, Rev. B.A. Reed; her sister, Alice Reed; and her brother, Rev. Robert Reed.
Marilyn dearly loved her family and will be in Heaven waiting to be reunited with them. Marilyn is survived by her husband and dear companion, Homer Scott; a daughter, Cheryl (Frank) Ackerman of Newcomerstown, O.; a son, Kenneth (Dawn) Bateman of Nashua, N.H.; grandchildren, Harry “Chip” and Jeffrey Ackerman, and Lewis and Ruth Bateman; a daughter by her husband, Barbara (Don) Bryan of Atwood Lake and her children, Carol and Donnie Bryan. Also surviving are a number of nieces, a nephew and dear cousins around the country.
In keeping with Marilyn’s wishes, a private family service will be held with the Rev. Richard G. Rose officiating. No public visitation is planned. Charitable contributions in honor of Marilyn’s memory may be made to the Dover Alliance Church, in lieu of flowers.
