Marian M. Myers, 88, of Tuscarawas, passed away on Monday, August 26, 2013 at Park Village Health Care Center in Dover after a period of declining health. Born September 3, 1924 in Uhrichsville, she was a daughter of the late Albert F. “Mose” and Laura M. (Woodrow) Myers.
A lifelong resident of Tuscarawas County, Marian was a graduate of Uhrichsville High School in the class of 1942 who, for many years, enjoyed gathering with her classmates for monthly lunches. During World War II, Marian was a Stock Tracer at Patterson Field. Later, she was employed by Twin City Hospital’s lab for a number of years. Above all else, Marian was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker. In her children’s youth, she was active in the Tuscarawas-Warwick High School Band Mothers and served as their president for a time. She enjoyed card parties and was an avid reader in her spare time. She also enjoyed playing in a weekly ladies’ golf league at Big Bend Golf Course for many years. She was a longtime member of St. James Lutheran Church in Tuscarawas where she was active in her congregation, serving as a District delegate on many occasions in the 60’s and 70’s.
On July 18, 1943, Marian was wed to Howard I. Myers with whom she enjoyed over fifty-three years of marriage until his passing on October 18, 1996. They are survived by a son, Howard “Nick” (Carol) Myers of Tuscarawas; three daughters, Vicki (Ron) Knapp of Akron, Suzi (John) Ruscin of Tuscarawas and Kathy (Ron) Casimir of Tuscarawas; grandchildren, Brent (Joanna) Myers, Kelly (Mike) Bolden, Jena Knapp, Jason Knapp, Josh Ruscin, Teo (Bridget) Ruscin, Tiffany “Tiffy” (Tony) Cipollone, Shane Casimir, and Mike (Lindsay) Casimir; and great-grandchildren, Stephanie Myers, Hannah Myers, Karis Bolden, Emalee and Maddy Robison, Olivia Knapp, Amber Greer Ruscin, and Casey and Cael Cipollone. Marian is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Shirley Cutshall of Newcomerstown and Barb Myers of Tuscarawas; a dear cousin, Bob Pedrotty of Dennison; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services for Marian, officiated by the Rev. A. Wallace Anderson, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 29, at St. James Lutheran Church in Tuscarawas. Interment will follow beside her beloved husband in the adjoining St. James Lutheran Church Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Those wishing to honor her memory by a charitable contribution are encouraged to do so to St. James Lutheran Church, P.O.
