Maria Kozlowski

Maria “Mary” Kozlowski, 89, of Uhrichsville, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 3, 2012 in Dover. Born April 12, 1923 in Krzewiecka, Poland, she was a daughter of the late Andrzej and Katarzyna (Lanko) Fenik.

On September 28, 1949 in Salzgitter, Germany, Maria married Zygmunt Kozlowski who preceded her in death on October 15, 2002. They are survived by their four children, Stephan Kozlowski of Uhrichsville, Irene (Jerry) Haas of Dover, Emilie Kozlowski of Dover and Donna (Robert) Karl of New Philadelphia; and four grandchildren, Aaron Hunsinger, Jessica Hunsinger, Dustin Karl and Ashley Karl. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by an infant son, John Kozlowski, and an infant daughter, Josephine Kozlowski.

A devoted wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker, Maria loved caring for her family and home. She also enjoyed spending time with her many friends and neighbors. She especially liked gardening, both for flowers and for vegetables which she canned every year. She will always be remembered for her delicious Polish cooking and baking.

Family and friends are invited to call at the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 5. A private, family graveside service is planned in Calvary Cemetery in New Philadelphia. Those wishing to honor Maria’s memory are encouraged to do so by an act of kindness or by a donation to the charity of their choice.
