Margaret "Peg" C. Bower-Guy

Margaret C. “Peg” Bower-Guy, 84, of Dennison, O., formerly of Bowerston, O., passed away on Monday, March 9, 2009 at Schoenbrunn Healthcare in New Philadelphia, O., following a lengthy illness.

Born December 24, 1924 at Twin City Hospital in Dennison, she was a daughter of the late Robert F. and Bessie (Harner) Coffey.

A lifelong resident of the Bowerston and Dennison area, Peg was a graduate of Dennison High School in the class of 1943 where she had been a majorette for the marching band, and was a former longtime member of the Conotton United Methodist Church.

During World War II, Peg did her part on the homefront by working at the Hoover Company and by volunteering at the Dennison Railroad Depot Canteen.

In addition to being a loving wife, mother and grandmother, Peg was employed at the Scio Pottery for a few years and then at Lauren Manufacturing until her retirement.

Peg is survived by a brother, John “Jack” Coffey; a sister, Elizabeth “Sis” Bower; two daughters, Margaret Diane Bower and Susan Stark and her husband, Larry; and three step children, Ruthann Hobart and her husband, Russ, Charles Guy and his wife, Dorothy, and Cheryl Guy.

Peg has three grandchildren, seven step grandchildren, three great grandchildren and several step great grandchildren. Also important to Auntie Peg were her numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Peg was preceded in death by her first husband, Francis E. Bower; her second husband, Kenneth W. Guy; a brother, Robert “Bob” Coffey, Jr.; two daughters and a son-in-law, Elizabeth Jane Bower and Linda and Harold Morris; and a granddaughter.

Services for Peg, officiated by Rev. Bob James, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, March 13, in the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home at Dennison. Interment will follow in Bowerston’s Longview Cemetery.

Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday. Those wishing to honor Peg’s memory by a charitable contribution are encouraged to do so to the American Red Cross, Tuscarawas County Chapter.
