Margaret A. Marty

Margaret A. “Peg” Marty, 77, of Dennison, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on Thursday, February 5, 2009 in Canton. Born in Pittsburg, PA on February 15, 1931, she was a daughter of the late William and Margaret (Massey) Carter. A 1949 graduate of St. Mary’s High School, Peg lived most of her life in Dennison and often wintered in Florida.

Peg was a longtime member of Immaculate Conception Church in Dennison. Peg was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker in addition to having worked as a teacher’s aid in the Claymont School district for over 20 years. Peg was a member of many card clubs in the area and enjoyed playing bingo. Always full of life, Peg was the first one to get people up to do something fun.

On June 3, 1950, Peg married Charles Marty, Jr., who survives her at their home in Dennison. Peg’s other surviving family includes, four children; daughter, Deborah and husband Jeff Ames of Dellroy, son Chuck and wife Nancy Marty of Uhrichsville, daughter Gretchen and husband Dan Aman of Ocala, FL, and son Dave Marty and fiancé Jan Giroux of Citra, FL; five grandchildren, Travis and wife Nicole Arnold of Cary, NC, Heather Camp of Miami, FL, Trent Marty of Kings Mountain, NC, Jessica and husband Dave Pitkins of Miami, FL, and Shasta Marty and fiancé Jonathon Siepker of Akron, OH; and two great grand-daughters, Cara Pitkins of Miami, FL and Dakota Ames of Dellroy.

In addition to her parents, Peg was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Megan Marty, a grandson, Duane Ames, Aunt and Uncle Ann and Albert Dauterman who raised her, beloved cousin Ruth Johnston who was like a sister to her, brothers, Bill and George Carter, and a sister Vera Carter.

According to her wishes, Peg has donated her body to medical study and a memorial service will be held at a later date. Those wishing to remember Peg with a memorial donation may do so to the Twin City Hospital Foundation, 819 N. First St., Dennison, OH 44621 or to the charity of their choice.
