Margaret J. Marlatt Greer, 96, of Uhrichsville, passed away at Beacon Pointe Rehabilitation Center in Uhrichsville on Sunday, July 6, 2014. Born March 26, 1918 in Midvale, she was a daughter of the late William and Sarah (Ferrell) Postel.
A lifelong resident of the area, Margaret was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker who had also worked at the former Scio Pottery for 33 years. She was a longtime member of Scio United Methodist Church where she was active in the United Methodist Women, and had most recently attended Grace United Methodist Church in Uhrichsville. She had also been a member of the Alevian Club and Mt. Hope Grange.
On September 21, 1939, Margaret married Charles A. Marlatt who preceded her in death in 1960. They had one son, Linn D. Marlatt, who also preceded her in death, and are survived by a daughter-in-law, Hilda Marlatt of Uhrichsville; 3 granddaughters, Margaret (Mike) Ryan of Florida, Lisa (David) Boles of Tappan Highlands and Judy (Steve) Loibl of Dover; great-grandchildren, Andrew and David Boles, Alicia Jenkins , Amber Clark, Branson Sanner, and Lindsay, Jake and Evan Loibl; 18 great-great-grandchildren; and a great-great-great-grandson. Margaret is also survived by 2 brothers, Kenneth Postel and Paul (Elaine) Postel; and numerous nieces and nephews. On June 25, 1967, Margaret married Thomas Greer who preceded her in death on July 29, 1994. In addition to her parents, husbands and son, Margaret was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Diane Sanner; great-granddaughter, Brandy Boles; great-great-grandsons, Gradon Boles and Zac Jenkins; sister, Alice McLaughlin; and brothers, Ramon, Damon, William and John Postel.
Services for Margaret, officiated by Pastor Larry Malterer, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 10, in the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison. Interment will follow in Gnadenhutten-Clay Union Cemetery in Gnadenhutten. Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice. Margaret’s family wish to extend their sincere gratitude to the staff of Crossroads Hospice and Beacon Pointe Rehabilitation Center for their exceptional care during her final illness.
