Margaret L. "Marge" Bowditch

Margaret L. “Marge” Bowditch, 85, of the Maple Grove area of Uhrichsville, O., passed away at the home of her daughter on Sunday, August 22, 2010 after a lengthy illness.

Born December 9, 1924 in Uhrichsville, she was a daughter of the late Benjamin Thomas and Florence Lucille (Roth) Greer and was a lifelong resident of Maple Grove.

Marge married Harold Dean Bowditch in October of 1940, spending nearly seventy years of wedded bliss with him. She is also survived by their daughter, Caroline Sue Arbuckle and her husband, Frank, of Tappan Lake; three grandsons, William Lee Arbuckle of Columbus, Jeffrey Dean Arbuckle and his wife, Rhonda, of Scio, and Charles Gregory Arbuckle of Uhrichsville; two great grandsons, Matthew Dean and William Braden Arbuckle; her brother, William Greer and his wife, Beth, of Uhrichsville; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Jerry Lee Bowditch; a great grandson, Gregory Logan Arbuckle; and a sister-in-law, Helen Jean Bowditch.

Marge was a member of Uhrichsville First United Methodist Church her entire life and was a member of the United Methodist Women. She also was a member of the Business and Professional Women with whom she held numerous offices over the years, the Altruists, and the Lunch Bunch.

A devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker, she also worked for Sears and Roebuck in their Uhrichsville store for many years, from its opening until the day it closed.

Services for Marge, officiated by Rev. Harry Milligan, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 26, in the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home at Dennison. Interment will following Evergreen Burial Park at New Philadelphia.

Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Thursday. Those wishing to honor Marge’s memory by a charitable contribution are encouraged to do so to Uhrichsville First United Methodist Church.
