Margaret I. "Peggy" Huff-Davis

December 4, 1946 — March 21, 2015

Margaret I. “Peggy” Huff-Davis, 68, of Bowerston, passed away with her loving caregivers at her side on Saturday, March 21, 2015, at Gables Care Center in Hopedale where she had received excellent care from the dedicated and professional staff. Although only having received her diagnosis of rectal cancer six weeks earlier, Peggy fought bravely through her final illness and wanted to raise awareness of the importance of regular screenings for cancer. Born December 4, 1946 in Dennison, she was the daughter of the late Harry Albert and Luella Mae (Bower) Huff.

After growing up in Bowerston, Peggy was the valedictorian of Conotton Valley High School’s class of 1964 before furthering her education at the Canton College of Business from 1964 to 1965. Upon graduating from college, she began her career at the Muskingum Watershed Conservancy District as a secretary, later becoming the administrative assistant in the land department where she developed a system of filing which will be used for many years. She was a devoted employee of the M.W.C.D. for 31 years until her retirement in 1996. In her younger years, she had also served as the church organist at Trinity United Methodist Church in Bowerston for many years and had played for numerous weddings. She will be remembered for her frankness, always calling a spade a spade, but also for always being up for a good time.

Peggy was married to Frank L. Davis with whom she spent 39 years with love to the fullest. He preceded her in death on September 18, 2013. She is survived by her caregivers, cousins and best friends, Richard and Karen Huff of Tippecanoe, and was always “Aunt Peg” to their sons, Edward Huff of West Lafayette and Jeremy Huff of Beaufort, S.C. She is also survived by special cousins, Kay Tesch and Linda Shank of Louisville, Ohio, as well as numerous other cousins, an abundance of friends, and her dear canine companions, “her boys”, Pipsissewa and Skeezix. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by many aunts and uncles.

In keeping with Peggy’s wishes, she has been laid to rest beside her beloved husband at their family farm. A memorial service and celebration of her life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 16, in the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison with an hour of visitation prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Trinity Hospital Twin City Foundation or the charity of one’s choice.
