Margaret I. "Lena" Cox

Margaret Irene “Lena” Cox, 93, of Cadiz, O., formerly a longtime resident of Dennison, O., passed away on Tuesday, December 21, 2010 at Trinity West Medical Center in Steubenville, O., after a month’s illness with pneumonia. Born October 13, 1917 in Midvale, O., she was a daughter of the late Pio and Amelia (Bertolini) Cerana.

On January 20, 1945, Lena married Raymond Alfred Cox with whom she enjoyed over forty-seven years of marriage until his passing on Augut 27, 1992. They are survived by a daughter, Beulah Oline and her husband, Bob, of Adena, O.; a granddaughter, Samantha Herr and her husband, David, of Plainfield, Ind.; a grandson, Bob Oline, Jr. and his wife, Melissa, of Colrain, O.; and four great grandchildren, Timmy Skedel, Landon Herr, and Piper and Xavier Oline.

In addition to being a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker, Lena worked at the former Scio Pottery for nearly forty years. In her spare time, she enjoyed doing word puzzles and especially loved spending time in conversation with her family and friends. She was Methodist by faith.

Lena is also survived by two brothers, John Cerana and his wife, Augusta, of Vineland, N.J. and Robert Cerana and his wife, Ardeth, of Uhrichsville; a sister, Sara Metzger and her husband, Ben, of Illinois; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.

She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Kristina Oline; four brothers, Leo D., Pio “Pete” Jr., Louis P., and Lester Cerana; and two sisters, Lenora Lenzo and Clara Paina, as well as her parents and husband.

Services for Lena, officiated by Rev. Tom Schrader, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 23, in the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home at Dennison. Interment will follow beside her beloved husband in Uhrichsville’s Union Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Thursday.
