Margaret R. “Peg” Gram, 87, of Dennison, O., passed away on Friday, June 25, 2010 at Twin City Hospital in Dennison, following a brief illness.
Born October 31, 1922 in Dennison, she was a daughter of the late Floyd B. and Doris M. (Zay) Beckley.
Peg was a lifelong resident of Dennison, a graduate of Dennison High School in the class of 1941, and a longtime member of Park Christian Church in Dennison. In addition to being a loving wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker, she had worked for the railroad during World War II as a gandy dancer and at the Twin City Pharmacy in Dennison. Peg enjoyed crocheting and quilting, was an avid Cleveland Browns and Indians fan, had been a t-ball coach, and loved visiting and spending time with her family.
On December 21, 1946, Peg married George R. Gram with whom she enjoyed nearly forty-seven years of marriage until his passing in 1993. They were blessed with three children, Dodie Stratton and her husband, Kevin, of Murphysboro, Ill., George R. Gram and his wife, Margaret, of Port St. Lucie, Fla., and Samuel Floyd Gram who preceded them in death; five grandchildren, Lt. Col. Lance Stratton who is serving in Afghanistan, Mike Stratton of Murphysborro, Ill., Nate Stratton of Elk Grove Village, Ill., Angela Gram of NY, NY and Tommy Gram of Boston, MA; adopted grandchildren, Jeff and Mitzi Dryden of Dennison; and eight great grandchildren, Sierra, David, Gabriel, Luke, and Grace Stratton, Taylor, Kyle, and Nykee Dryden.
Peg is also survived by a sister, Lois Baer of Ocala, Fla.; a brother, Jack Beckley and his wife, Lynda, of Dennison; a sister-in-law Kathy Beckley of Woodbine, Md.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, husband and son, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Betty Weber and Gert Watson, and a brother, Dick Beckley.
Services for Peg, officiated by Pastor Vince Bagley, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, June 28, in the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home at Dennison. Interment will follow beside her beloved husband in Evergreen Cemetery at New Philadelphia.
Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Sunday, June 27, 2010. Those wishing to honor Peg’s memory by a charitable contribution are encouraged to do so to Park Christian Church.
