Margaret E. Decaminada, 85, of Uhrichsville, O., passed away on Thursday, November 12, 2009 at Beacon Pointe Rehabilitation Center in Uhrichsville, following a lengthy illness.
Born August 21, 1924 in Woodstock, O., she was a daughter of the late Harold and Edith (Anderson) Doty.
Margaret retired from Trenton Avenue Elementary where she had worked in the school’s cafeteria for many years in addition to being a loving wife, mother and homemaker. She had also worked at Twin City Hospital as a nurses’ aide for a time. In her spare time, Margaret enjoyed playing cards with her friends in several area card clubs and loved to travel.
A resident of the Twin City area for most of her life, Margaret was a longtime member of Immaculate Conception Church in Dennison where she was a member of the Altar Society and had worked in the church rectory for a number of years. She had also served her parish by volunteering for many of its church and school boards.
On August 6, 1946, Margaret married John M. Decaminada, Jr. with whom she enjoyed nearly sixty years of marriage until his passing on December 12, 2005. They are survived by three sons, John Decaminada and his wife, Susan, of Ocala, Fla., Bob Decaminada and his wife, Teresa, of Lancaster, O., and Joe Decaminada and his wife, Cheryl, of Dennison; four grandchildren, Dawn Decaminada, Sara Decaminada, Joe Decaminada, II, and Keith Decaminada and his wife, Angela; and four great grandchildren, Joey III, Maria, Adam and Allie Decaminada.
Margaret is also survived by her brother, Robert Doty of Bellefontaine, O., and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Vernon; a brother, Charles Doty; a brother-in-law, Louis Decaminada; and a sister-in-law, Ann Fox.
Services for Margaret, officiated by Father Anthony Lonzo, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, November 16, in Immaculate Conception Church. Interment will follow beside her beloved husband in St. Mary’s Cemetery near Dennison.
Family and friends are invited to call at the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, during which time a Christian Wake Service will be held at 6:45 p.m. Those wishing to honor Margaret’s memory by a charitable contribution are encouraged to do so to Immaculate Conception Church.
