M. Louise Thompson

July 3, 1920 — September 20, 2012

M. Louise Thompson, 92, of Uhrichsville, Ohio, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, September 20, 2012 after a brief illness. Born July 3, 1920 in Uhrichsville, she was a daughter of the late Willard Ray and Mary Ruth (Utterback) Morton.

A lifelong resident of the area, Louise was a 1938 graduate of Uhrichsville High School. On August 18, 1941, she married Carl M. Thompson with whom she enjoyed nearly sixty-three years of marriage until his passing on May 7, 2004. Louise was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and homemaker who relished her role as a farmer’s wife, enjoying the time that she spent gardening, crocheting and doing crafts. She attended Grace United Methodist Church in Uhrichsville. In recent years, she and her daughter enjoyed sharing each other’s homes…six months at Kathy and Joe’s home in Florida, then six months at Louise’s home in Uhrichsville. Louise looked forward to the time that she spent in Florida each year and made many good friends there.

She will be deeply missed by her daughter, Kathleen (Joe “Merle”) Clantz; grandchildren, Christopher (Cathy) Clantz of Newcomerstown, Carol Jo (Eric) Berry of Stow and Emily Thompson of Uhrichsville; great grandchildren, Jordan, Laetyn and Alyssa Berry of Stow, Andrew Clantz of Newcomerstown and Atreyu Thompson of Uhrichsville; daughter-in-law, Gayle Thompson; and a number of nieces, nephews and other extended family members. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, John Ray Thompson; an infant son, Gary Melvin Thompson; and two brothers, Fay and Dale Morton.

Services for Louise, officiated by Rev. Larry Malterer, will be held at noon on Monday, September 24, in the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison. Interment will follow beside her beloved husband in Uhrichsville’s Union Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. to noon on Monday. Those wishing to honor her memory by a charitable contribution are encouraged to do so to Community Hospice, 716 Commercial Avenue S.W., New Philadelphia, OH 44663.
