Luella Adeline Dunfee

Luella “Adeline” Dunfee, 80, of Bowerston, Ohio, passed away on Monday November 14, 2011 surrounded by her loving family at Bowerston Pointe Nursing Home. A daughter of the late John Boston McPeak and Maude Frances (Crosier) McPeak, she was born on June 2, 1931 near Stillwater, Ohio.

In addition to being a loving wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker, Adeline also worked for over 25 years at the former Scio Pottery. Adeline was a former member of Roxford United Methodist Church who enjoyed Christian books and programming. She will be fondly remembered as “Mama” by many foreign exchange students, and will also be sadly missed by her “baby”, Mickey, who was her beloved canine companion.

Adeline was married to Raymond Eugene Dunfee who preceded her in death on September 26, 1980. They are survived by four children, Linda Notz and her husband, Alan, of Dover, Gary Dunfee and his wife, Jill, of Bowerston, Sherry Wallace and her husband, Tom, of Dennison, and Ryan Dunfee of Bowerston; six grandchildren, Jason, Jamie, Miranda and her husband, George, Danielle, Michelle and her husband, Aaron, and Savian; and fourteen great grandchildren, Brandon, Lexi, Abby, Cianna, Devon, Briana,Connor, Baylee, Jaeda, Cayla, Zane, Charlee, Dereck, and Jaxyn. Adeline is also survived by two sisters, Sylvia VanFossen-Taylor of Columbus and Connie Dietrich of New Philadelphia; a brother, Carl McPeak of Uhrichsville; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, James Alfred McPeak; a half-brother, Raymond McPeak; and a half-sister, Erma McPeak; as well as her parents and husband.

Services for Adeline, officiated by Pastor Milo Baker will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 17, in the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home at Dennison. Interment will follow in Bowerston’s Longview Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Those wishing to honor her memory by a charitable contribution are encouraged to do so to Crossroads Hospice.
