October 20, 1930 — September 1, 2015

Lucy E. Vankirk, 84, of Dennison, passed away at her home on Tuesday, September 1, 2015 after a lengthy illness. God truly blessed her all the way to the end and beyond. Heaven has had an angel returned to them. Born October 20, 1930 in Hewett, West Virginia, she was a daughter of the late David French and Sybil J. (Ball) Ball.

On May 29, 1957, Lucy married Edmund O. Vankirk with whom she enjoyed 23 years of marriage until his passing in 1980. They were blessed with three children, Kevin (Jill) Vankirk of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Lisa Kay (Randy) McMasters of Dennison with whom she had resided, and Harley Vankirk who preceded her in death. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; siblings, Genial Ball, Louise White, Betty Thompson, Katherine Ross, Jane Ball, Roger Ball, Michael Ball, and Phillip Ball; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members. Lucy leaves behind more than family, she leaves behind many friends she truly cherished. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker who was Baptist by faith.

In keeping with Lucy’s wishes, she has been cremated without a public visitation and will be interred with her beloved husband in Stone Creek Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Community Hospice.
