Lucille Elizabeth Mizer, 88, of Barnhill passed away at New Dawn Retirement Center on March 1, 2015. Born in Barnhill on September 27, 1926 she was the daughter of the late Emery O. and Lide (Ohler) Weaver.
Lucille attended Midvale School and worked for Snyder Manufacturing, Alsco and various nursing homes in the area. She had a gift for hospitality, she loved to host big holiday dinners and was known for her pie baking. Her greatest joy came from the time she spent with her children and grandchildren. She was very active in her church, Good Shepherd U.M.C. in Dennison. She enjoyed playing cards, square dancing, and was an avid reader.
On April 30, 1957 she married Dean William Mizer who precedes her in death, they are survived by their children, Twila (James) Scott, Barb (Jeff) Davis, and Gary (Kay) Mizer all of New Philadelphia; grandchildren, Jill (Robert) Mason, Tom (Michele) Scott, Kathy (Mark) Burgan, John (Beth) Scott, Budd Mizer, and Anita (companion, Zach Benson) Mizer; great grandchildren, Marissa, Joshua, Micah, Nathaniel, Abigail, Hannah, Mary, Zakary, and Amelia; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband she is preceded in death by her brothers, Emery “Eli”, Carl “Zeke”, Charles “Buss” Weaver and her sisters, Catherine “Cotts” Ault and infant sister Mary Weaver.
Services for Lucille, officiated by Pastor Ron Heasley and her grandson, Rev. Tom Scott will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday at the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison. Interment will follow beside her beloved husband at Holmes Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Those wishing to honor her memory by a charitable contribution are encouraged to do so to Good Shepherd U.M.C. in Dennison.
