Lucille Marie Johnson, 81, of Dennison, O., passed away on Monday, October 11, 2010 at Twin City Hospital in Dennison after a lengthy illness.
Born February 28, 1929 in Empire, O., she was a daughter of the late Orville William and Mary Frances (Lloyd) Keeder. Lucille was a 1947 graduate of the former Jefferson Union High School in Richmond, O.
A resident of the Twin City area for nearly sixty years, Lucille served as the deputy clerk for the Village of Dennison for many years and had also been a secretary in the Claymont School System, in addition to working in the office at Maurer’s Market. She was a longtime member of Park Christian Church in Dennison who enjoyed doing crafts, crocheting, and spending time in conversation with her many friends.
On October 1, 1948 in Richmond, O., Lucille married Harry E. Johnson with whom she enjoyed over fifty-five years of marriage until his passing on January 23, 2006. They are survived by a son, Harry E. “Buzz” Johnson, Jr. of Uhrichsville; a daughter, Mrs. John E. (Kathy Dee) Metzger of Uhrichsville; four grandchildren, Mrs. Brent (Abigail Ashley) Kuwatch of Green, O., and Mrs. John (Lacy Renee) Ronald, Cory Edward Johnson, and Audrey Morgan Metzger, all of Uhrichsville; and four great grandchildren, Ryleigh and Karson Ronald and Lauren and Grant Kuwatch.
Lucille is also survived by two brothers, William Lloyd Keeder and his wife, Wilma, and Harold E. Keeder and his wife, Barb, of Toronto, O.; four sisters, Edna L. Tice and Mrs. Glen (Frances A.) Furbee of Toronto, Mrs. Bob (Margaret Amelia) Eakin of Sarasota, Fla., and Mrs. Bob (Mildred Elaine) Davis of Mingo Junction; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister and brother-in-law, Faye and Andy Powley, and a brother-in-law, Jim Tice.
Services for Lucille, officiated by Pastor Scot Caley, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 15, in the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home at Dennison. Interment will follow beside her beloved husband in Uhrichsville’s Union Cemetery.
Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday. Those wishing to honor Lucille’s memory by a charitable contribution are encouraged to do so to Dress-A-Child, c/o Becky Mastin, 1210 Winkler Dr., Dover, OH 44622, in lieu of flowers.
