Louis Rudolph “Rudy” Stringer, 72, of New Philadelphia, passed away at his home with his loving family, on Thursday, April 23, 2015, after a short illness. Born October 20, 1942, he was a son of the late Rudolph C. and Julia L. (Arnold) Stringer.
Rudy grew up in Dennison, was a member of Immaculate Conception Church in his youth, and was a 1961 graduate of Dennison High School. Rudy then proudly served his country in the Army in the early 60s. Throughout most of his adult life, he lived in New Philadelphia where he was a member of Sacred Heart Church. He was employed by American Electric Power for over 30 years and was a longtime member of the New Philadelphia Elks. Rudy will be best remembered for his quick wit. Right to the very last, he kept his visitors and family in stitches with his outrageous sense of humor.
He is survived by his wife, Jeannie K. (Cardani) Stringer; son, Phillip Stringer of Hilton Head, South Carolina; and brother-in-law, Chuck Cardani with whom Rudy was especially close. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Richard “Dick” Stringer, whose wife, Mary, and daughter, Julie, survive.
Father Tyron Tomson will celebrate the funeral Mass on Monday, April 27, at 10:00 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church in Dennison. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery near Dennison. In keeping with Rudy’s wishes, no visitation is planned. His family requests that no flowers be sent, but that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Community Hospice and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
