Loretta Jean Marsh

Loretta Jean Marsh, 65, of Uhrichsville, passed away at her home on Wednesday, July 24, 2013 after a lengthy illness. Born October 9, 1947 in Tampa, Florida, she was a daughter of the late Clarence Durbin Giddens and Jeanette Marie (Jonkhout) Giddens Shearer.

A proud veteran of the U.S. Army, Loretta served during the Vietnam War and spent many years at Ft. Carson. She was a resident of the Twin City area for thirty-four years and was a member of Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church. Loretta earned her cosmetology license, but chose to devote her life to her family as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker. She had a talent for sewing and will be remembered for her fantastic cooking. She also enjoyed bowling while her health permitted.

On February 21, 1974, she married Donny Lee Marsh with whom she has enjoyed nearly forty years of marriage. She is also survived by five children, Barbara Jean Dixon of Ft. Collins, Colorado, Linda Marie Philips of Jacksonville, Florida, Larry Timothy “Bo” Stephan of Windsor, Colorado, James Dean (Dawn) Marsh of Uhrichsville and Christina Leean (Jack Carling) Marsh of Dennison; a daughter-in-law, Faye Marsh of Birmingham, Alabama; fifteen grandchildren, Amber, Kalee, Miley, Ian, Lisa, Tiffany, Barbara, Caleb, James, Brett, Heather, Jenna, Christian, Cody, and Mikehla; two great-grandchildren, Rarity and Desi; sisters, Genevieve, Mary, Charlotte, Annie, Bertie and Barbara; a brother, James; a dear friend, Audra, who was like a daughter to her; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Steven Mitchell Marsh; and three brothers, Eugene, Manual and Clarence Jr. “CD”.

Services for Loretta, officiated by Pastor David Naus, will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 27. In keeping with her wishes, she will be cremated after her service and will be kept at home by her loved ones. Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. prior to the funeral. Those wishing to honor her memory by a charitable contribution are encouraged to do so to Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church.
