Lore Riley

Lore Riley, 71, of Uhrichsville, died Sunday, January 27, 2013, at her home while surrounded by her loving family after a lengthy illness. Born May 25, 1941 in Stuttgart, Germany, she was a daughter of the late Karl and Gertrud (Kienzler) Gerstenmeyer.

A fifty-two year resident of Uhrichsville, Lore was the loving wife of Ernest Ray Riley to whom she was wed in Grant Street United Methodist Church in Dennison on July 23, 1963. In addition to her husband who survives her at their home, she is survived by a son, Ernest C.M. (Chong) Riley of Pt. Ludlow, Washington; daughters, Sharon (Robert) Laporte of Tippecanoe, Katherine (Greg) Hamilton of Gnadenhutten, and Christine (Robert) Haney of Gnadenhutten; grandchildren, Christopher Riley, Ernest Riley, Michelle McCue, Miranda McCue, Evan Cross, Nicole Cross, Andrew Clum, and Andrea Hamilton; great-grandchildren, Kailaya Rei Heath and Lheanna Jhenn Riley; siblings, Karoline (Rolf, deceased) Nothdurft, Ilse (Fritz, deceased) Rapp, Ernst Karl (Elisabeth) Gerstenmeyer, and Hildegard (Herbert) Neth; sister-in-law, Hedwig Gerstenmeyer; brother-in-law, Hans Spath; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by siblings, Marianne (Erwin) Harer, Wilhelm Gerstenmeyer, and Joanna Pia Spath.

Lore was a longtime employee of Market Basket in Uhrichsville where she was the manager of the bakery and deli. In her spare time, she was an avid bowler, having been recently nominated to the local Hall of Fame, and she enjoyed collecting figurines. She was Methodist by faith.

In keeping with Lore’s wishes, she has been cremated without a public visitation or service. She will be interred in Ridgecrest Memory Gardens in Dover. Those wishing to honor her memory by a charitable contribution are encouraged to do so to Community Hospice, 716 Commercial Avenue S.W., New Philadelphia, OH 44663.
