Lonnie E. "Bud" Deems, Jr.

Lonnie Edward “Bud” Deems, Jr., 76, of New Philadelphia, died Thursday, February 4, 2016, at Community Hospice in New Philadelphia. Born October 27, 1939 in Uhrichsville, he was a son of the late Lonnie Edward and Texie Pearl (Utter) Deems. He was also preceded in death by his son, Gregory Allen Deems; sisters, Audrey McCullough and Betty Wright; and brother, Robert Deems.

Bud grew up in Uhrichsville and attended Uhrichsville High School before working for a number of area manufacturing companies, including Barmet, concluding his career by working as a cabinet maker. He was a former associate member of the V.F.W. and of Sam’s Club in New Philadelphia. He was Baptist by faith.

His surviving family includes his wife, the former Charlotte Joan Jones, to whom he was married on October 27, 2002; son, Brian (Lisa) Deems; stepdaughter, Paula Griffith; grandchildren, Cody (fiancée, Ashley Armstrong) Deems, Casey (fiancé, Matt White) Deems, Dennis (Deanna) Griffith III, and Kacie Griffith; great-grandchildren, Landen Deems, Skyler White, Kendall White, and Ivayne “Ivy” Griffith; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services, officiated by Rev. Matthew Slater, will be held at 10am on Wednesday, February 10, 2016 in the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison. Interment will follow in Uhrichsville’s Union Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-8pm on Tuesday at the funeral home.
