Linda Lou Carnahan, 62, of Dennison, O., passed away on Thursday, January 8, 2009 at New Dawn Retirement Community in Dover, O., following a battle with cancer.
Born July 30, 1946 in Dennison, she was a daughter of the late Dallas W. and Lucy (Stoyanovich) Clary.
A lifelong resident of the area, Linda was a graduate of Uhrichsville High School in the class of 1964. She then worked for the Hall Glove Factory in Uhrichsville for many years, in addition to being a loving wife, mother and homemaker. She had also worked for the 250 Antique Mall and K-Mart for a time.
On April 30, 1968, she married Charles H. “Chuck” Carnahan with whom she enjoyed nearly thirty-five years of marriage until his passing on April 10, 2003. They are survived by a son and a daughter, Jody L. Carnahan and Jackie Carnahan, and a grandson, JayCee M. Carnahan, all of Dover.
Linda is also survived by two sisters, Sandra J. Romig of Bowerston and Mrs. Ben (Janet S.) Lawrence of North Carolina; a sister-in-law, Shirley Davis of Massillon; a number of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins who loved her very much; and many dear friends, including George and Helen Gauvey.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Roger Dallas Clary; a brother-in-law, Robert L. Romig, Jr.; a nephew, Bryan D. Lawrence; her grandparents, Isaac and Ethel Clary and George and Rosa Stoyanovich; and her parents-in-law, Charles and Mary Carnahan.
Linda was a member of Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church near Dennison. She loved collecting Snoopy items, going to yard sales and auctions, and cutting grass. She was also a fan of Ricky Skaggs and loved bluegrass music.
Services for Linda, officiated by Pastor Scott Simmons, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 12, at Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church. Interment will follow beside her beloved husband at Ridgecrest Memory Gardens in Dover.
Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday. Those wishing to honor her memory by a charitable contribution are encouraged to do so to Hospice of Tuscarawas County.
