Lewis Bartimus, Jr.

Lewis Bartimus, Jr., 71, of Uhrichsville, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, June 14, 2015 in Cadiz. Born September 11, 1943 in Logan, West Virginia, he was a son of the late Ruby (Adkins) and Lewis Bartimus, Sr.

Lou is survived by his wife, the former Betty L. Hollis whom he married April 15, 1996; daughters, Nicole Bartimus and Felicia (Derek) Wells; sons, Sam and Matthew Bartimus; grandchildren, Jeremiah, Matthew, Destiny, Alicia, Michael, Anthony, Kailee, Josalin, Skylar, and Karmin; sisters, Janet (John) Breyer, Gladys (Alvin) Skeens, and Mary Sue (Oscar) Eldridge; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Lou was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Lou; infant sons, Lewis F. and Lewie E.; and half-siblings, Bud Bartimus and Icie Grimm.

Lou proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1961 to 1967. He was a former member of the local Veterans of Foreign Wars and enjoyed bowling with a league in the New Athens area. He was Christian by faith.

Services for Lou, officiated by Pastor Jimmy Stull, will be held at 1pm on Tuesday, June 30, in Uhrichsville Christian Fellowship, 217 E. 3rd St., Uhrichsville. Interment will follow in West Union Cemetery near Gilmore with a military committal service at 4:15pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to his family to help defray the cost of his final expenses.
