Letty G. Brown

Letty Geraldine Brown, 85, of Uhrichsville, O., passed away on September 12, 2008 in Beacon Pointe Rehabilitation Center at Uhrichsville, following a lengthy illness. Born August 4, 1923 in Virginia, she was a daughter of the late Guy Smith and Arva Pearl (Smith) Harris.

A resident of our area for over twenty years, Letty had been raised in West Virginia before spending much of her adult life in Crooksville, O. She married Adrian Guy Brown in August of 1940 and enjoyed over fifty years of marriage to him until his passing on May 12, 1992.

Letty is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Samuel (Edna) Craigo with whom she had resided; five sons, George Brown and wife, Joyce, of Crooksville, Bernard Brown and his wife, Betty, of Newark, Brady Brown and his wife, Linda, of Florida, Stephen Brown and his wife, Theresa, of Ohio, and Myles Brown and his wife, Debbie, of Hebron; and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is also survived by an adopted son, Ron Harbaugh of New Lexington, and his family; several half brothers; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Letty devoted her life to her family as a loving wife, mother and homemaker, and was a member of the New Philadelphia Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, reading and drawing. She had a natural talent for needlework and loved sewing dolls and clothing. She also loved caring for her cats who were precious companions to her.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Myron Brown, and a half brother, Hamilton “Buddy” Harris.

Services for Letty, officiated by Bishop Brent Meeke, will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, September 15, in the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home at Dennison. Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Interment will be in Crooksville Cemetery with a graveside service held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Those wishing to honor Letty’s memory by a charitable contribution are encouraged to do so to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and Hospice of Tuscarawas County.
