Lettie M. (Conway) Wallace, 96, of New Philadelphia, O., formerly of Uhrichsville, O., passed away on Saturday, May 15, 2010 at Schoenbrunn Healthcare in New Philadelphia.

Born October 3, 1913 in Knowlton, Ky., Lettie was a daughter of the late William and Nannie (Spencer) Conway.

Lettie moved with her family from Kentucky when she was a small child, grew up in Dennison, O., and was a graduate of Dennison High School in the class of 1934. On April 1, 1936, she married the late Wilbur L. “Buss” Wallace of Uhrichsville. They enjoyed nearly 72 years of marriage until his death on February 26, 2008.

Buss and Lettie lived in Uhrichsville until his retirement from the Timken Roller Bearing Co. in Canton and then split their residence between Uhrichsville and Ruskin, Fla. for more than 30 years, driving home and back to Florida every Christmas to be with their families, and coming home in the spring just before their wedding anniversary. For many years, they enjoyed traveling together to many areas of the country. Lettie was a member of Good Shepherd United Methodist Church in Dennison.

Lettie was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker. During World War II, she helped on the homefront by working at Timken Roller Bearing Co. in Canton, and she had worked at Alsco in Gnadenhutten for a time during the 50’s, as well.

Lettie is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Charles Albaugh of New Philadelphia; a son and daughter-in-law, Edwin and Judy (Smith) Wallace of North Canton; five grandchildren, Chuck Albaugh and his wife, Janet, and Mike Albaugh and his wife, Carol, of New Philadelphia, Mrs. Tim (Lori) Davison of Michigan, Mrs. Doug (Lynda) Olsen of Akron, and Mrs. Brooks (Jennifer) Bolyard of Dellroy; and sixteen great-grandchildren, Patrick, Erin, Alyssa, Bryan, Anna, Anthony, Joshua, Nathan, Emma, Jenna, Abigail, Aaron, Zane, Elizabeth, Miriam, and Carmen.

She is also survived by sisters, Mrs. Joe (Elsie) Wenger of Dennison and Mrs. Clyde (Ruby) Arnold of Dover; sisters-in-law, Mrs. Harold (Dodie) Conway of Uhrichsville, Mrs. Bob (Frances) Wallace of Deersville, and Mrs. Charles (Hazel) Wallace of Tuscarawas; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Lettie was preceded in death by four brothers, Thaddeus, Henry, Elmer, and Harold Conway; a sister, Bertha Sparks; a granddaughter, Kristi Albaugh; and a grandson-in-law, Tim Davison.

Services for Lettie, officiated by Rev. Bob James and Pastor Wanda Romig, will be held on Wednesday, May 19, at 11:00 a.m. in the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home at Dennison. Interment will follow in Uhrichsville’s Union Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
