Leonard Lee Taylor, 95, of Newcomerstown, Ohio, passed away peacefully – hand in hand with his beloved wife of 75 years – at the Ohio’s Hospice Truman House in New Philadelphia, Ohio on September 8, 2026. Born July 11, 1931 in Akron, Ohio, he was the last surviving child of the late Judson Glenn and Marian Irene (née Tracy) Taylor, having been preceded in death by his siblings, Gladys, Harold, Harry, Carl, and Sherry.
Leonard was employed for 43 years as a press operator at Akron Porcelain until his retirement in 1993. In his free time, Leonard loved playing golf, a hobby he continued to enjoy for the rest of his life – even spending time on the greens at Five Waters Golf Course this spring. He also was a hunter and fisherman who spent many happy vacations with his family at their favorite fishing lodge. A resident of Newcomerstown for the past 14 years, he was a member of Countryside Baptist Church and a man of great faith who loved spending time in prayer, studying his Bible, and singing.
On December 20, 1951, Leonard married Lois Jean (née Marock) Taylor after being childhood sweethearts from the age of 13. She survives him at their home. He is also survived by their children, Danny (Loretta) Taylor, Denise (Tom) Parks, and William (Heather) Taylor; daughter-in-law, Bonnie Taylor; grandchildren, Cory (Jessica) Taylor, Christian (Jessica) Taylor, Heather (Mark) Reeder, Michael (Katina) Parks, Andrew (Olivia) Taylor, Marian Rockhold, Adam Fenrich, Amy (Michael) Phelps, Amanda (Duane) Groeger, and Steve Rollins; great-grandchildren, Bailey, Aaron, Kayla, Lucas, Taylor, Stevie, Ellie, Andrew, Caleb, Daine, Justice, Camden, Whyatt, Beckett, Brandon, and Joseph; great-great-grandchildren, Memphis, Carver, Kade, Kota, Kolton, Chase, Caitlin, Dalton, River, Ryden, Chloe, Nick, Jadyn, Carson, Willow, Isabel, Brooke, Johnny, and Echo; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and siblings, he was preceded in death by a son, Mark Taylor, granddaughter, Nichole Rollins, and Susan Taylor.
Pastor Paul Harvey will officiate a memorial service at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, 9/19, at Countryside Baptist Church where Leonard’s family will receive callers at a reception immediately following the service. He will be interred beside his late son in West Lawn Cemetery at Newcomerstown on a future date. Those wishing to honor his memory by a charitable contribution are encouraged to do so to Countryside Baptist Church.
