Leno E. Dolzani

July 10, 1927 — September 5, 2010

Leno Eugene “Lenny” Dolzani, 83, of Uhrichsville, O., passed away at his home on Sunday, September 5, 2010.

Born July 10, 1927 in Midvale, O., he was a son of the late Attilio “Tilly” and Emma (Gallinari) Dolzani.

Leno was a lifelong resident of the area with the exception of the time that he spent serving his country in the U.S. Army during World War II, having been stationed in the South Pacific and Okinawa as an engineer who helped build new bridges at the end of the war. Upon returning home from the service, he worked for Cardox at Pittsburgh Plate Glass and Coal Co. in Midvale before beginning his career with Gradall (the former Warner-Swasey Co.) in 1955, continuing for thirty-four years until his retirement in July of 1989. He was a member of the International Association of Machinists throughout his working life.

An outgoing man who enjoyed spending time with his many friends, he was a member of the Uhrichsville Elks #424, Uhrichsville Moose #740, the Dennison Knights of Columbus, Dennison American Italian Club, and Dennison Eagles #582, as well as the Tuscarawas V.F.W. Post #7943. Len’s greatest pleasure in life was being a friend and his hope was that people would love God and one another.

On October 14, 1950, Leno married the former Frances L. Fantin who survives him. He is also survived by a son, Roger Dolzani and his wife, Barbara, of Lakewood, Colorado; three grandchildren, Zachary, Molly, and Samuel Dolzani, also of Lakewood; a sister, Anne R. Erb of New Philadelphia; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Dolzani; a brother-in-law, Maynard Erb; and his stepmother, Helen Dolzani.

A memorial service, officiated by Father Jeff Coning, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 11, in the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home at Dennison. Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, prior to the memorial service. Burial is in Calvary Cemetery at New Philadelphia. Those wishing to honor Leno’s memory by a charitable contribution are encouraged to do so to the Twin City Hospital Foundation.
